Soulio is a quintet that features a front line of trombone and sax, putting a slight twist on the classic soul-jazz combo. Led by trombonist Johnny Showtime (John Janowiak), the group also includes bassist Greg Nergaard, drummer Dan Leali and guitarist Jay Montana. Nic Meyer recently stepped into the sax chair when long-time Soulio saxist Matt Shevitz left the group to start his own band. Drummer Xazavian Valladay is the official sixth member of the band, as he frequently fills in for Leali. A variety of top notch subs and featured guests have also joined Soulio over the years.
